Meet our people in tourism!
Come to Salaspils and visit Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Huskies!
This year, in order to promote the local tourism offer of Salaspils Municipality, we are starting the following initiative, where we will publish an article in the middle of each month in the section “Meet our people in tourism!” Each of the articles will contain descriptive information about our tourism businesses and service providers, and we will publish these articles once a month both on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/salaspilstic and here on our website.
It seems that winter is here to stay, therefore in January, with snow still on the ground, we would like to introduce you to Husky.lv, so you can enjoy a winter adventure in nature and feel a bit of “Alaska” right here!
The company cooperates with Salaspils TIC and during its activity has been involved in various events organised by Salaspils TIC, including the 2019 Riga region cycling-photo orienteering series “Travel to Your Neighbours”. On of the prizes was a gift card from Husky.lv offering a ride in a dog sled. They have also participated in the creation of two Salaspils Tourism videos – 2021 video “Amazing Summer in Salaspils” and 2022 video “Seasons of Salaspils Tourism. Winter”.
Husky.lv, a family business, has found its home just 20-minute drive from Riga, at “Līdumi” in Piķurga, Salaspils Municipality. The best way to get here is by private car, and we recommend using Waze or Google Maps navigation.
Husky.lv organises rides with the very friendly sled dogs right here in the Salaspils Municipality. Sled dog rides are available in both snow and non-snow periods. Excursions and training are also available. You can visit the dogs with your children, as the dogs are trained, socialised, friendly and cute.
Positive emotions and a fantastic adventure are guaranteed.
Self-driven rides in a six-dog team are available on a track of about 3-5 km through fields and woods. The ride starts with a welcome and introduction to the dogs. This is followed by a safety briefing and a training session of sled, followed harnessing the dogs to the sled and then the ride itself in a 4-6 dog team in an authentic wooden sled, driven by yourselves.
There are 2 options of the route – 3 km or 5 km. The shorter route leads through the field, while the longer route includes a path through the forest. The average speed of the dogs is around 23 km/h. It is possible to enjoy a relaxing ride with the beautiful Siberian huskies, but adrenaline junkies can also take a ride in the “F1” – European Sleddog, which can reach speeds of up to 35 km/h.
The dogs are purebred Siberian Huskies – award-winning show beauties. Enjoy a bit of “Alaska” and an active adventure right here in Salaspils!
